Henri de Castries was elected a Director of the General Partner in October 1993. In April 2010, in connection with a change in AXA’s governance structure from dual boards (the Supervisory Board and the Management Board) to a single Board of Directors, he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AXA. From May 2000 until April 2010, de Castries was CEO of AXA and chairman of the AXA Management Board. He previously served AXA in various capacities, including vice chairman of the AXA Management Board; senior executive vice president of Financial Services and Life Insurance Activities in the US, Germany, the UK and Benelux (from 1996 to 2000); senior executive vice president of Financial Services and Life Insurance Activities (from 1993 to 1996); corporate secretary (from 1991 to 1993); and central director of Finances (from 1989 to 1991). Before joining AXA, de Castries was part of the French Finance Ministry Inspection Office. He is a director or officer of AXA Financial, AXA Equitable and various other subsidiaries and affiliates of the AXA Group, and was elected vice chairman of AXA Financial in February 1996 and chairman of AXA Financial in April 1998. In addition, de Castries joined the board of directors and audit committee of Nestlé, Inc., in April 2012. He is a graduate of the HEC Business School and holds a bachelor’s degree in law.
