Deborah S. Hechinger was elected a Director of the General Partner in May 2007. Currently an independent consultant on nonprofit governance, she was president and chief executive officer of BoardSource, a leading governance resource for nonprofit organizations, from 2003 to 2007. From 2004 to 2007, Hechinger also served as co-convener of the Governance and Fiduciary Responsibilities work group, one of the five groups established by the Panel on the Nonprofit Sector to make recommendations to Congress on ways to improve the governance and accountability of nonprofit organizations. Additionally, she served on the Advisory Board for the Center for Effective Philanthropy and was a member of the Ethics and Accountability Committee at Independent Sector. Prior to joining BoardSource, Hechinger was the executive vice president of the World Wildlife Fund, a large, global conservation organization, where she oversaw all fundraising, communication and operations activities. She has also served as a deputy comptroller and as director of the Securities and Corporate Practices Division at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and has held senior executive positions in the Division of Enforcement at the SEC. A graduate of Georgetown Law School, Hechinger has been a member in good standing of the District of Columbia Bar Association since 1975.
